President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed his dedication to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) by eliminating the practice of giving bonuses, known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. This commitment was highlighted during his keynote speech at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 held at ICE BSD in Tangerang. Prabowo emphasized that the mismanagement and dispersion of SOE assets over the years have been detrimental. Through the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has managed to establish a significant global financial presence, ranking fifth in sovereign funds worldwide, following Norway, China, and Abu Dhabi. Nevertheless, Prabowo raised concerns over the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, particularly during times of financial loss, which he deemed inherently unjust. He underscored the necessity of abolishing these bonuses as part of a larger reform initiative aimed at fostering integrity and professionalism within state-owned enterprises. Prabowo made it explicitly clear that those who resist these reforms will not be welcomed, as there are numerous young individuals prepared to take on the responsibility.
