European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has introduced a new visa policy to facilitate easier entry for Indonesian citizens into the European Union. This new policy allows Indonesians who are making their second visit to the EU to be eligible for a multi-entry Schengen visa. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Berlaymont Building in Brussels. Von der Leyen highlighted that this visa policy aims to strengthen long-term ties between the people of Indonesia and the EU, especially in areas such as education, investment, and social exchange. This initiative falls under the people-to-people connections pillar of the EU-Indonesia strategic partnership, emphasizing the importance of building bridges between the two populations. President Prabowo welcomed the closer ties between the EU and Indonesia, emphasizing the significance of trust, shared values, and a common vision for the future. He expressed hope for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels, signaling a new era of enhanced cooperation and mutual benefits between Indonesia and the European Union.
