IKN — Indonesian Minister of Defense and President-elect Prabowo Subianto touched President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during the last Plenary Session held at Garuda Palace, the capital of Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Friday (13/9).
The moment was revealed by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
“Earlier, Mr. Jokowi gave his messages for the last plenary cabinet meeting to give instructions,” said Luhut.
Luhut recounted the moment when Prabowo expressed deep gratitude to Jokowi for serving as the 7th President of Indonesia over the past 10 years and will be continued by Prabowo.
“We all applauded, and then he (Jokowi) was touched as usual. Because Mr. Prabowo expressed his thanks to Mr. Jokowi and the ministers who have helped him all this time,” continued Luhut.
During the transition period from Jokowi’s government to Prabowo’s, Prabowo also stated that he will continue and carry on what has been built by Jokowi, including the progress of developing the Nusantara capital city, as well as the Parliament/MPR building, and the TNI/Polri building.
“So, if President-elect Prabowo wants to continue building the Parliament/MPR building, then the Supreme Court, and then the TNI/Polri building. Then all civil servants will move to the dormitories, I think everything is already set,” explained Luhut.
Moreover, in this government transition process, Prabowo also emphasized that no one should disrupt the close relationship between Jokowi and Prabowo.
“He does not want anyone to break the bond between Mr. Jokowi and Mr. Prabowo. Because this country has progressed, everyone is united and there is nothing to be questioned, and I think that’s absolutely right,” said Luhut. (RR)
