Prabowo Subianto, the Minister of Defense of Indonesia and president-elect for the 2024-2029 period, performed the Eid al-Adha prayer at Nurul Wathan Mosque located in Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Monday (17/6).
Prabowo arrived at the mosque wearing a white koko shirt and a black peci (traditional headwear). As he entered the mosque, Prabowo greeted the local residents.
He quickly went inside the mosque and headed to the front row to perform the Eid al-Adha prayer which started at 07:00 AM local time.
After the prayer, Prabowo greeted the residents and exchanged greetings with them.
“Mister, Happy Eid al-Adha,” the residents said to Prabowo.
The residents were enthusiastic about taking photos with Prabowo, including women and children.
“Salim (blessings), Mister,” the children said to Prabowo.
“Salim,” Prabowo replied while hugging and kissing the foreheads of the children present.
During this Eid al-Adha moment, Prabowo was inspired by the meaning derived from the exemplary stories of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail, which emphasize the act of sacrifice and sharing the meat with those in need to bring happiness and proper nutrition.
This year, Prabowo sacrificed 145 cows distributed in various areas. 89 cows were distributed to scholars, Islamic scholars, Islamic mass organizations, Islamic boarding schools, and Mosque Prosperity Councils (DKM).
Meanwhile, at Prabowo’s residence in Hambalang, there were 38 cows to be slaughtered and distributed to the local community. Additionally, at the Gerindra Party Headquarters, there were 20 cows and 5 goats for sacrifice.
