Tragically, their plane was attacked by Dutch Kitty Hawk hunters as they were about to land in Maguwo. Adisoetjipto and seven of his colleagues lost their lives in the crash, with only one survivor. The motive behind the Dutch attack remains unclear, but it is speculated that it was retaliation for previous bombings by Indonesian cadets.
