Prabowo Subianto, the president-elect, asked the members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra party who made it to the parliament to remain loyal to the people and the nation. He made this statement during a briefing for the party members at the Garuda Yaksa Training Center in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Monday (23/9).
“Thank you to all of you as fighters at the forefront, thank you once again for your loyalty, please remember to serve and work for our people, we are on the right path, we are upright, our loyalty is to our people, to our nation,” said Prabowo.
He further emphasized that loyalty should be directed towards the people, not towards himself as an individual. He urged the members to leave him if he strays from the right path.
“I ask you not to be loyal to me as an individual, as long as I fight for what is right, please support me, but if you see that I am on the wrong path, then please leave me,” Prabowo stated.
He also reiterated his commitment to his oath, stating that he wants to die defending the people, the poor, and the honor of Indonesia.
“My oath is that I want to die for the truth, I want to die defending my people, I want to die defending the poor, I want to die defending the honor of Indonesia, I have no doubts,” Prabowo concluded.
