In a recent development, Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with Cambodian Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet in Cambodia on September 6, 2024.
During his meetings, Prabowo expressed his appreciation for Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening defense cooperation with Indonesia. He emphasized the importance of seeking new opportunities for collaboration to ensure a strong partnership that can address emerging challenges and opportunities.
In a separate meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet, Prabowo discussed the potential for Indonesia and Cambodia to work together to enhance prosperity and progress in the region. He highlighted the role that collaboration between the two countries can play in advancing the welfare and development of ASEAN as a whole.
Additionally, Indonesia recently donated weapons and ammunition to the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces’ Special Forces Command. The donation, which included rifles, pistols, and ammunition, was delivered to Cambodia on a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base.
Overall, Prabowo’s visit to Cambodia underscored the importance of closer collaboration between Indonesia and Cambodia for the benefit of both nations and the wider ASEAN community.
