Prabowo Subianto, the Minister of Defense of Indonesia and president-elect, attended a pencak silat exhibition in Paris, France, on Saturday (27/07). During the event, he met Indonesian badminton legend Greysia Polii. Prabowo looked delighted to converse with Greysia, who was accompanied by her husband Felix Djimin and their daughter Jessia Selah Djimin.
“What’s her name?” Prabowo asked while holding Jessia’s hand as Felix carried her.
“Her name is Jessia,” Greysia replied, introducing their daughter, who is not yet two years old.
The brief yet warm meeting ended with a group photo. “Can we take a photo, sir?” Greysia asked.
“Of course, let’s do it,” Prabowo responded enthusiastically.
Additionally, a pencak silat demonstration was one of the activities at the exhibition. This initiative aimed to raise awareness of the Indonesian martial art worldwide.
As the Chairman of the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI) for the 2021-2025 period, Prabowo is determined to promote pencak silat as a sport in the Olympics.
