Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024: Kapolda Riau Releases 10 Thousand Participants in Pekanbaru

Pekanbaru – Riau Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal, released a total of 10 thousand participants of Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024 in the city of Pekanbaru on Sunday morning, July 14, 2024. This event attracted participants from various running categories, including 5K, 10K, and 21K. The starting point was in front of the Riau Governor’s Office on Jenderal Sudirman Street, which was filled with runners throughout the event.

In a moment captured, the participants of Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024 filled Jenderal Sudirman Street like a ‘sea of people’. Inspector Iqbal not only released the participants but also participated in the 5K category run along with his wife, Nindya M Iqbal.

The largest running event on the island of Sumatra attracted participants not only from Riau but also from other regions such as Java and Sulawesi. The event was centralized at the Riau Governor’s Office and was attended by officials from the Riau Regional Leadership Coordination Forum and some officials from the Pekanbaru City Leadership Coordination Forum.

The running route crossed Jenderal Sudirman Street, with three running categories: 5K, 10K, and a half marathon 21K. The 21K category started at 5:30 AM, the 10K category at 5:45 AM, and the 5K category at 6:15 AM.

In addition to the running competition, the event was also enlivened by a special performance from the Armada band and an exciting door prize drawing, including 5 electric motorcycles and 1 car as the grand prizes. Participants also enjoyed various culinary products and souvenirs from local MSMEs.

Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal hopes that Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024 will not only be a sports event but also have a significant impact on the local economy. “Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024 is not just a running event. We want to bring joy to the people of Riau,” said Inspector Iqbal. With 10 thousand participants, this event is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.

Inspector Iqbal added that they want to support the Riau government in boosting the economy through events like Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024. “We also want to support the Riau government in order to keep pushing the economy forward,” he said.

Inspector Iqbal also explained that Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024 is not only a major sports event but also a means to advance the economy and promote the potential of Riau, especially Pekanbaru City. “Running is not just a hobby, but it has become a lifestyle for the people. Therefore, we provide a platform for runners through Riau Bhayangkara Run 2024,” he explained.
