Jakarta: Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Dito Ariotedjo expressed his hopes regarding the new jersey for the Indonesian team designed by Didit Hediprasetyo. This jersey is expected to be a source of inspiration and boost the confidence of the athletes who will be competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“The Red and White jersey that we will see today is a symbol of pride and fighting spirit for Team Indonesia. Thank you to Mas Didiet Hedi Prasetyo for designing this jersey. We hope that with this jersey, the spirit of the athletes will be ignited to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics,” said Minister Dito.
In his statement, Minister Dito emphasized that the 2024 Olympics in Paris is not just a sporting event, but also a stage that showcases aesthetic values through innovative designs. Paris, as the world’s fashion capital, provides the perfect backdrop to introduce Indonesian designers’ works to the international stage.
“In the past few weeks, countries have been revealing their jerseys and they are not playing around, using top-class designers. Fortunately, Indonesia has Mas Didit, whose name is renowned internationally for designing apparel. I agree that this will boost the confidence of the contingent athletes to some extent,” he added.
So far, Team Indonesia has secured 49 tickets to participate in the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, a proud achievement. Minister Dito added, “This is an extraordinary achievement that we should be proud of. 29 athletes will compete in the Olympics.”
“The government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with all relevant parties, has prepared all the needs of the Paris Olympics athletes, which will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. We ensure that physical and mental training, as well as the necessary equipment, are available and optimal,” he said.
Meanwhile, Raja Sapta Oktohari, the Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI), also expressed his joy at seeing the great enthusiasm from the Indonesian people, especially the positive responses on social media.
“So, there are many designers, but only Didit dared to answer the challenge from the Indonesian NOC. Because as mentioned earlier, the challenge is that whoever designs, like in other countries, many get bullied etc. because of their design,” said Raja Sapta Oktohari.
“But, Alhamdulillah, in this opportunity, I want to thank the Indonesian netizens because their response is very positive and it will show that we are a great nation that can appreciate the creativity and contribution of its people for the best sporting achievements in Indonesia,” he added.
