Jakarta — Political observer Ujang Komarudin responded to several foreign institutions that have recently begun to scrutinize the new government programs of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Ujang believes that these foreign institutions seem to not like it when Indonesia becomes a developed country.
Recently, some foreign institutions have been scrutinizing the Prabowo-Gibran programs, including the giant investment bank and financial services provider headquartered in New York, Morgan Stanley.
Morgan Stanley lowered its investment rating in the Indonesian capital market due to reasons such as the weakening rupiah and campaign promises made by Prabowo Subianto, such as the free lunch and milk program for students which are considered to create a “significant fiscal burden.”
“If we look at the foreign intentions, they always belittle Indonesia, always scrutinize the new programs of Prabowo-Gibran because it is more about foreign fear or paranoia towards Indonesia,” Ujang told reporters on Thursday (27/6).
Ujang said that the free nutritious meal program that has recently been scrutinized by foreigners could actually improve the economy of the Indonesian people, especially those in need.
“If we look at it, they (foreign parties) scrutinizing the Prabowo-Gibran program seems to show hatred towards the people and the fate of the Indonesian nation. They do not want to see Indonesia progress,” Ujang continued.
Recently, financial institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have also scrutinized the free nutritious meal program.
Ujang also quoted a statement once made by the first President of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno regarding ‘If you are looking for a leader, look for someone who is hated, feared, and despised by foreigners, because that is the right one.’
“We talk about Bung Karno who once advised to seek a leader who is hated because that is the right one. Now, the leadership of Prabowo that is scrutinized and hated by foreigners is because Prabowo is right, not subordinate to foreigners,” Ujang emphasized.
“The condemnation and hatred of foreigners towards Prabowo is the key that Prabowo is a true and chivalrous leader,” he added.
