Professor Hikmahanto Juwana, an International Relations (IR) expert, commended the Indonesian government for taking concrete actions to help address the emergency situation in Gaza, Palestine. He praised Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto for his firm stance at the High-Level Emergency Response Summit for Gaza in Jordan, noting that Indonesia’s actions were the most tangible and bold compared to other countries present.

Hikmahanto emphasized that Indonesia’s efforts were not just rhetoric but included practical measures, such as plans to host 1,000 patients and students from Gaza for treatment and education in Indonesia. He suggested that such actions could unsettle the United States and Israel.

He expressed hope that Indonesia’s proactive approach would pressure Israel and its allies to halt acts of genocide in Gaza, as international bodies like the United Nations have been ineffective in addressing the issue. Hikmahanto called for other countries to follow Indonesia’s lead and form a humanitarian coalition to address the situation in Gaza.
