Bogor – A video of a man jumping from a bridge to the banks of the Ciliwung River in Bogor City has gone viral on social media. The man, named Muhammad Taufik, jumped because he was confronted by debt collectors.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, January 4, 2024 in Pajajaran, specifically on the Bale Binarum bridge. From the viral video, the recorder can be heard saying that a man jumped. “There’s a money jump. Free fall, there,” said the recorder, showing the man lying below the bridge.
Fortunately, Taufik, who works as a driver, survived the stunt. It turns out that Taufik’s reckless act was not intended to commit suicide, but to avoid debt collectors.
The victim’s colleague, Rizki, who is also the assistant driver of the pickup truck driven by Taufik, explained that the victim jumped when their vehicle was stopped by five debt collectors at 12:00 WIB.
“I was taking building materials on the road. There was a quarrel,” said Rizki. Not wanting his car to be taken by debt collectors, Taufik then pulled the handbrake and jumped. “He pulled the handbrake, took the keys, and then ran and jumped from the bridge,” Rizki explained.
Taufik’s sudden action caused a commotion among road users. Fortunately, Taufik’s life was saved and he only suffered serious injuries after falling from a height of 20 meters. Taufik briefly regained consciousness before being evacuated using a stretcher by the Bogor City Firefighters. Taufik was then taken to the PMI Hospital.
